You don't need luck to enjoy a romantic weekend getaway on Maryand's Eastern Shore.  Welcome to Combsberry Bed and Breakfast, a historic Manor home situated on a tributary off of the Chesapeake Bay.  In 1649 Josias Cooper was awarded a grant of 100 acres to transport himself and a woman to Maryland.  By the time John Oldman and his wife, Mary, bought the property in 1718 at a purchase price of 21,000 pounds of tobacco and siver, it included 150 acres and some run down tenant houses.  He immediately set about building an imposing brick house complete with a stair tower and its winding steps.  This stair tower is the ony original structure of this style in Talbot County.  Combsberry is one of the earliest two and a haf story houses to be built in the county.  Combsberry is located outside of Oxford, Md, one of the first deep water seaports established in the America.  Oxford is home to the Robert Morris Inn/Sandaways, as well as Pope's Tavern, nestled in The Oxford Inn.

The Oxford Ferry is one of the oldest known ferries still in existence and makes the trip to St. Michaels memorable.  A day trip to St. Michaels includes visiting The Maritime Museum, as well as The Inn At Perry Cabin.  But, at the end of the day, one looks forward to returning home to a roaring fire, a Jacuzzi tub and the peace and romance that characterizes the Combsberry Inn. Make that short drive from Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadephia and discover this hidden jewel for yourself.
