The snow has melted, the daffodils are blooming and it is time to head to the Eastern Shore of Maryland for fun, romance and exercise. Oxford, Maryland is a historic waterfront colonial town which continues to celebrate its past, as well as embrace the future. Come to Oxford Day on April 24 and participate in a civil war enactment! It's a fun filled day, capped off with drawings for two baskets filled with prizes worth over $1,200.
Relive history on May 1st by participating in the Frederick Douglas Honor Society YMCA of Talbot County 10-Miler. Retrace the 10-mile path Frederick Douglas was forced to walk from St. Michaels to his confinement at the Talbot County jail in Easton, Md. His eventual escape to freedom led to accomplishments that changed history and made extensive improvements in the lives of all Americans. Procedes from this race will go towards a creation of a memorial to honor Frederick Douglas and to the YMCA of Talbot to promote fitness.
While attending these exciting events, the perfect place to stay is Combsberry Bed and Breakfast located a short distance from St. Michaels, Easton, and Annapolis. This historic Inn was built in 1730 and one can culminate an action packed day by returning to this exlusive Mansion, a less expensive alternative to The Inn @ Perry Cabin and The Old Brick Inn. Sip a glass of wine on your private balcony overlooking the cove, watching a bald eagle fly by as the sun sets. Soak in the oversize Jacuzzi tub and then slip into the king size bed in between sun drenched sheets hung on the clothes line, just like your grandmother used to do.
