Trip Advisor Review From the New Mr. and Mrs. Cavanagh

This summer, Combsberry had been blessed with very lovely weddings and very lovely wedding guests.  As the Innkeeper, I especially enjoy the time spent with the Bride and Groom - both prior to the wedding, and on the actual day itself.  It is so lovely to see their dreams unfold before their very eyes, and seeing how happy they are to finally say "I Do".  All the worries, all the stress of the big day fades away in that very moment.

Below, please find the very kind review that our September 18th newlyweds, Katie and Mike, wrote about Combsberry on Trip Advisor.  The Cavanaghs, a couple from Baltimore, were married on our grounds on a stunning autumn day.  Afterwards, a family style feast was served of crab stuffed rockfish, beef au jus, and lemon chicken - followed by an evening of dancing under the stars.  Katie and Mike, along with their lovely dog Shay, will spend the next year on their honeymoon.  They plan to travel the country in an RV, and seeing all the sites there are to see.  Yes, that is correct - a year long honeymoon - how envious are you?!?!?  Here's wishing them all the love and happiness in the world, and hoping that they will stop by the Eastern Shore on their journeys to say hello.  (photos of their big day will soon follow)....

"My husband and I were married at Combsberry on September 18, 2010 and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We checked in on the morning on the 17th and began setting up for the weekend festivities after checking in to our rooms. Each room at the Inn has it's own bathroom and all are very cozy and quaint. Beds are comfortable and the views are amazing as each room faces the water. As we began to coordinate things for the rehearsal on Friday evening and the wedding for Saturday we would find ourselves distracted by the amazing scenery. It took us much longer to set up for the party because we found ourselves staring out onto the water and enjoying the wonderful location.

One of the most attractive aspects of Combsberry is its location. Tucked back off a small country road, the Inn sits at the tip of an inlet of the Chesapeake Bay surrounded by dense woods and sporadic houses also backing up to the water. The many windows of the three houses of the Inn (the Manor House, Carriage House and Oxford Cottage) give you a great view of the lawn and water no matter which room you find yourself in. The grounds are also well kept and groomed. My favorite spot is the hammock tied to the trees right on the bank of the water where more than a few naps were taken in the three days we were there.

Another big reason we had such a memorable weekend was the effort of the Combsberry staff, particularly Abby and Megan. As soon as we checked in they were making sure we were comfortable and had everything and anything we needed. They were more than helpful with helping us with preparations for the weekend events and were really knowledgable about the area and where to find things we needed. And what wonderful cooks! I think my husband's favorite part of the weekend was having breakfast in the fabulous kitchen with family and friends and enjoying the great spread that Abby and Megan put out. I think he may have eaten both of the delicious quiches that Abby made if his stomach would have allowed him to! The girls were also unbelievably helpful in coordinating with all the professional services (caterer, DJ, photographer, etc.) Abby even went into town and bought extension cords when the caterer didn't have enough. Needless to say we would not have had such a great weekend without their help.

I have to say that our wedding weekend was more than we could have hoped for and turned out better than we could have imagined. The setting and the support were two parts that cannot go overlooked or appreciated more. I don't know how many of our friends and family told us that it was the best venue for a wedding they had seen. A big thanks to Combsberry for a dream come true!"
