Weekend Getaway to the Combsberry Inn: We’ve waxed poetic about our favorite bed & breakfast before so it should come as no surprise that we would suggest a gift certificate to the Oxford B&B. A weekend getaway is loved by all, so giving someone an excuse to schedule one for themselves is always a generous move.

The Combsberry Inn only books six weddings per year, so we suggest booking now! Wedding ceremonies can be held pretty much anywhere on the property, including along the waterfront, in the garden, or inside the rustic barn. The barn boosts wooden beams, ample natural lighting, and plenty of space for your guests to mingle, dine, and dance the night away. The barn space is perfectly suited for a formal sit-down dinner, as well as casual cocktail hours. Interested in an outdoor ceremony and reception? Plan your celebration outdoors on the lawn. Wedding planning and catering are not provided, however nearby St. Micheal’s, Easton and even Annapolis offer a wide array of options for your special day. Whether you are planning a vintage wedding or envisioning simplistic formal, a Combsberry wedding is guaranteed to be beautiful in the picturesque venue.

This time of year is the perfect time to visit Combsberry, with a terrific list of specials available. For example, enjoy a weekend in Oxford for Christmas on the Creek while staying at the Inn! Christmas on the Creek is an annual event in Oxford, held December 5-7 this year and includes a host of holiday activities throughout Oxford. Combsberry offers a Christmas on the Creek package (valid from December 5-6th) that will include Friday and Saturday night, with the cost per couple $800 for a suite and $500 for standard rooms.

Each retreat is limited in size to 6-12 participants, which means these are extremely exclusive. By the end of the weekend, you can expect to have several new best friends 🙂
We will gather together on a Friday afternoon at the beautiful Combsberry Inn, located on the wildlife-rich Eastern Shore of Maryland – a wonderful location for a getaway in and of itself.
You will check in to your private suite, complete with private bath on Friday at 2pm, with time to relax a bit before we get started at 5pm. You can explore the expansive grounds, read a book in the large parlor with original fireplace, play a game, or just gaze out at the water.
Each of the 6 guest rooms is unique, with features such as whirlpools, fireplaces, private sitting rooms, canopy beds, gorgeous antique furnishings and luxury linens. Room assignment will be based on booking – meaning first come, first served.
The Private Cooking Retreat will be intense, but we will offer you some free time so you can explore the beautiful areas outside the inn, including the quaint waterside town of Oxford and the bustling harbor town of St Michaels.
I chose this location because of its beautiful setting and tranquil environment – perfect for getting some serious cooking work done, as well as offering plenty of leisure time and activities.
On Sunday, you’ll be completing a weekend that you are sure to remember for the rest of your life.

The Combsberry Inn was featured twice in the Fall 2014 issue of Chesapeake Brides in their article “Barns on the Eastern Shore” and again on page 33 of the same issue where a couple that had their wedding with us was also featured.

Oxford truly charmed us in a way we never thought possible! But what blew our minds even more? Our tour of the Combsberry Inn. Located a few miles down the road, (a gravel road to be exact) is an adorable and downright breathtaking Bed & Breakfast. Built in 1730, it’s truly a historic piece of art. Where to start? Well how about with one of ShoreBread’s favorite parts – the barn located in the front part of the property. The rustic-themed structure accommodates groups of 30-40, making it the perfect setting for a wedding or family reunion. With lights strung on the wooded ceilings and an old carriage strategically parked within, we saw serious potential for a romantic backdrop. Who’s getting married soon?!

Spend your Saturday with the windows rolled down and head to a town you’ve never been. You’re sure to enjoy the leaves falling and the cool breeze. We took a trip to Oxford recently, including a stop at the Combsberry Inn, which was so adorable we never wanted to leave!

This weekend these two remarkable people are tying the knot and I’m the lucky girl who gets to document the love, joy well wishes of their family and friends. When Darian emailed to tell me he was engaged, I thought “what a lucky girl”, but after meeting Holly I knew he was the lucky one. As you’ll see from the engagement session at COMBSBERRY INN, they are a perfect match and Holly’s adoration of Darian beams through in every smile.

Whitney and Brian chose to have their wedding at The Combsberry Inn in Oxford Maryland- a beautiful property set on the water that they were able to use as their private wedding venue for the entire weekend. Guests stayed in St. Michaels, a small eastern shore town with fun restaurants, shopping and amazing views of the Chesapeake Bay. The couple chose to be married in Maryland as the bride is from the eastern shore area and both are graduates of Loyola College in Maryland.

Check out the beautiful day we had with Angie, Shawn and their close family and friends at the amazing Combsberry Inn in the sleepy town of Oxford, on the Eastern Shore of MD. We started the day off with a bang, with a first look with the couple along the waterfront, then went right into using all of the cool spots around the property. This place has so much to offer: a beautiful home, barns, piers and waterfront all in such a unique and private location. In her wedding planning searches for “barn wedding” Angie learned pretty quickly that, while there are many barns on the Eastern Shore, there are not many places you can actually have your wedding IN one. Luckily, they found Combsberry and all their wedding dreams came true.

A 1700′s country estate for the backdrop, a son home from boarding school, Grandmother visiting from Virginia, sunset on a beautiful day, lots of good ole belly laughs and love filled smiles. It was the perfect way to kick off the spring portrait season. A big hug to the Spurry family for being so wonderful to work with and to Abby at COMBSBERRY INN for allowing us to take advantage of the beautiful grounds.

Emily Spiering met Blake Baron on a blind date—with someone else. The two now-attorneys were introduced during their first year in law school, when Emily was set up with one of Blake’s friends. “Blake was the ‘wingman,’” on the date, says Emily. “Luckily they worked it out between them, and Blake and I soon began dating.”
Two years into their relationship, Blake planned a very DC proposal during the Cherry Blossom Festival in April. He took Emily for a ride in a paddleboat, and popped the question in the middle of the Tidal Basin. “We celebrated afterward with Champagne at the Willard InterContinental hotel and called our families, who did not believe that we got engaged on account of it being April Fool’s Day!” says Emily. After a two-year engagement, two passed bar exams, a move to Chicago, and a backpacking trip through Europe, the busy couple returned to Maryland to tie the knot.

This beautiful English manor house, circa 1730, is sited on a former tobacco plantation. It features a rare stair tower, comfortable furnishings and a fine water view. It has been said that General Lee and his troops camped on the grounds during the Civil War. The house is laid in all-header bond, which is very rare in Talbot County. Today, the inn offers luxurious accommodations to leisure and corporate travelers and serves as a venue for small weddings and special events.

You know what this Friday needs? Some stunning pink hues, an adorable duo saying “I do” and one seriously cute puppy. Lucky for us, this charming Maryland affair happens to have all three, plus one amazing tented reception and a jaw-droppingly gorgeous setting. It’s basically the perfect way to start the weekend, lovelies… and you can see every last heartwarming moment captured by Eli Turner right here in the full gallery.

We had been looking forward to Jennifer and Patrick’s big day for a while. For one, we loved them… from our first meeting at the studio to their esession with pup obi, we had just kind of clicked right away and we knew that documenting their wedding day would be amazing. Second, their venue was the spectacular Combsberry Inn, nestled back by the water in historic oxford. And lastly, they are just cool people so we knew that everything from the food (catered by the groom!) To the fashion to the details were going to be perfect and right up our alley! The day was gorgeous and as we walked the grounds of the inn, we caught Patrick dancing while he and his son Christian set up the raw bar area to be enjoyed by guests during cocktail hour. Not only was it kind of adorable to see such a visibly happy groom, but to see father and son prepare together for such a special day was very cool. Jennifer and her ladies were in full tilt getting ready mode as we made our way up to the bridal suite. As a makeup artist herself, Jennifer had a crew of true pros with her and the results were perfection! When getting ready for their first look, they suggested the English garden to the side of the inn which was ideal with a staircase entrance and a gorgeous and private spot for them to share their joy and excitement before walking down the aisle. With a dreamy breeze coming off the water, they said ‘i do’ under a big and shady tree as family and friends cheered. The reception in the barn was beautiful and such a wonderful setting for the night’s festivities – funny and touching toasts were shared, scrumptious food was served and the dance floor was jumpin’! We are so very happy for you and are so grateful that we got to share such a special day with you

Maryland’s Eastern Shore is one of the prettiest and most unique places on the East Coast. Home to farmers and watermen, this rural part of Maryland is the ultimate spot if you and your love are fans of seafood, especially crab.
Stay at the historic Combsberry Inn Bed & Breakfast in Oxford, shop in quaint St. Michaels and take in a show at the gorgeous, fully-restored Avalon Theatre in Easton.

I love shooting a wedding at the Combsberry Inn in Oxford Maryland. Its one of my favorite Marland venues. From the outdoor wedding ceremony location overlooking the water, to the gorgeous grounds full of old buildings, a rustic barn that can be used for the wedding reception, to the main building with the prettiest wall paper and natural sunlight flooding every nook and cranny. If I re-did my wedding, I’d probably have it here.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of touring Combsberry Inn in Oxford, MD. This bed & breakfast is a hidden gem located near St. Michaels and Easton and with its 30 acre property it truly is the perfect place for a spectacular wedding ceremony AND reception! From the beautiful Manor House with its original fireplaces (which I fell in love with…) to the Oxford Cottage on site this place is a tranquility at its best! They even have a Carriage House that’s been transformed for additional guest lodging.

We were with Molly and Adil and their families for the whole weekend… we saw the craziness of pre-wedding festivities, the stress of the little finishing touches that were made, and the overwhelming sense of gratitude that Molly and Adil poured out through their hearts in every way! We saw the little moments that made their wedding day that much more special and we could not be more grateful for that opportunity.
October 24, 2012
On Friday, Molly and Adil gathered their closest family and friends for a Champagne Reception in the Garden of the Combsberry Inn. As they poured the champagne and toasted to the incredible wedding weekend they were in the midst of, they shared their gratitude for those surrounding them. Molly and Adil presented gifts to everyone who played a role in making their wedding celebration everything they dreamed it to be. They laughed, they cried, they celebrated… but the emotion that was the most evident through it all was gratitude! Molly and Adil’s grateful hearts brought me AND Molly’s dad to tears. (One of those was more likely to happen than the other!) It was perfect!

Combsberry Inn, a historic brick mansion on 30 waterfront acres in Oxford, Maryland, is offering 25 percent off weekday rates October 1 through November 30 (excluding holidays) to readers who mention this article. This B&B, which has its own dock, is ideal for watching migrating birds on the water. At night, you can take the chill off beside the fireplace as you nurse a glass of sherry in the wood-paneled library.

It was the first morning after the spring time change, cold and windy, but this sweet girl was a little trooper. I saw this basket at Target and had the crazy idea of staging a hot air balloon ride. Not an ideal prop in when Mother Nature is being temperamental, but we managed to get a few good shots. A big thank you to Abby at COMBSBERRY INN for allowing us to use the beautiful grounds and buildings.

Native to Maryland, but still want to feel like you’re having a destination wedding? Take a look at Combsberry Inn, a beautiful waterfront site located in Oxford, Maryland. Let your imagination run wild, as you choose between getting married at the manor house, the shore or in the garden. The choice is yours!

Sindy and Alex had one of the most unique wedding days I have ever seen. It all went down in Oxford MD at the Combsberry Inn and a little church in town. The cool part of the day was that there was basically two weddings with one BIG reception later in the evening. We started bright and early at the Inn with Sindy and Alex getting ready for the Hindu Ceremony in the morning where Sindy and her bridesmaids were all in gorgeous sari’s and Alex wore a traditional outfit and rode in on a white horse. Just too cool! After the Hindu ceremony we took some pics and had a little luncheon before heading back into the inn to start the getting ready shots of everyone before the second ceremony of the day.

Dian contacted me about 2 months ago about doing an e-session in oxford. I love oxford, so i was really excited about shooting there. It’s kind of rare that i get an inquiry for just an e-session, it’s usually part of one of our wedding collections. But that’s what they wanted and i was happy to oblige. Dian and rick were staying at the Combsberry Inn in Oxford and it is stunning, especially the grounds. I met up with rick outside and during our conversation, I discovered that they had actually been married the day before at the courthouse and that their main celebration was going to be held in Thailand in march – Thailand! Of course i let them know that I’d be happy fold up all 6 feet of me into a suitcase to come along 🙂 we started the session at Combsberry and then drove into town where it was easy to find some beautiful locations.

Jennifer was married on June 5, 2010 at The Combsberry Inn in Oxford, Maryland. Our string trio traveled two and a half hours in somewhat heavy traffic to arrive in Oxford. The weather was very warm and humid, but the Inn was beautiful and vibrant. The aisle was probably the longest I have ever seen-around the size of a football field’s length! We performed “Con Te Partiro” for the bridal party’s 15 minute procession and “The Pachelbel Canon” for Jennifer’s procession. The couple chose to have our trio perform soft background music during the Persian Three-Fold Cord ceremony. Appropriately, they selected Vivaldi’s Spring for the recessional. We were only scheduled to perform for the ceremony, however combined with the pre-ceremony music, extended processional, and hour ceremony, we played for almost two hours! Needless to say, we were all exhausted when we arrived back home.

Combsberry is an idyllic hideaway, spread out luxuriously over nine acres – interrupted only by majestic trees, blocks of ancient and aromatic boxwoods, a sprinkling of Adirondack chairs, and a strategically placed hammock overlooking Brigham’s Cove, the body of water that embraces the estate…

At the end of a private dirt road on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, this historic brick mansion nestles among magnolias and willows on the banks of Isalnd Creek. “There’s even a boat dock guests can use,” as well as a library, formal gardens and water views from each room (some with fireplaces and whirlpool tubs). The Carriage House is a two-bedroom suite; Oxford Cottage has a full kitchen, and its bedroom is on the second floor “with three dormer windows.”
